????Qingneng I solid Li-ion battery system developed by the scientific research team led by Cui Guanglei from the Qingdao Energy Storage Research Institute was adopted in the TS03 scientific research task to Mariana Trench by abyss expedition of China Academy of Sciences to provide energy to Wanquan lander control system and CCD sensor, according to Qingdao Institute of Bioenergy and Bioprocess Technology of China Academy of Sciences, the successful work of the battery under 10 thousand meters deep sea shows China becomes the 2nd country in the world applying Li-ion 2nd battery power system, next to Japan.
????During the TS03 expedition, Wanquan abyss lander with the battery completed 9 diving in total, all of which are deeper than 7,000 meters, and 6 of them are deeper than 10,000 meters. The deepest work water depth reaches 10,901 meters. The total working hours under the water can reach 134 hours. The longest non-stop work time reaches to 20 hours.
????The 3rd party test shows the energy density of new developed large volume solid Li-ion battery Qingneng I reaches to 250w/h per kilogram, and 80% are still available after 500 times charging. The battery shows excellent safety performance after pitching or squeezing to avoid safety risk of liquid battery. The battery can meet the demand long time and high safety of deep diving device and is able to provide energy in developing the deep-sea station of China. Furthermore, the energy density of solid Li-ion battery Qingneng II also developed by the institute even reaches 300k/h per kilogram, 2 times more than the common liquid battery and 5 times more than the silver-zinc battery. Running time of the deep-sea device and electric motor thus can be greatly enhanced. (Wang Pin)
